To vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen, be a resident of the county and precinct in which one plans to vote, be at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the general election, and have registered to vote at least 30 days prior to the election.

                        

Tuesday, Oct. 9 is the deadline to register to vote or change your name or address for the Nov. 6 general election.

Residents can register at the Holmes County Board of Elections, 75 E. Clinton St., Suite 108, Millersburg.

The Board of Elections office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will be open until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Registration forms also are available at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or at the Holmes County District Public Library. You may change your address online, register online or print forms on the Ohio Secretary of State website at www.myohiovote.com.

The general election ballot includes races for governor/lieutenant governor, attorney general, auditor of state, secretary of state, treasurer of state, U.S. senator, U.S. representative to Congress, Ohio Supreme Court justices, Court of Appeals judges, state senator (31st District), state representative, county commissioner and county auditor.

Also appearing on the ballot will be several local tax issues.
