Orrville library’s summer reading starts June 1
Orrville Public Library is ready for its summer reading program. Tails & Tales will kick off June 1 and continue throughout the summer, ending Aug. 14.
Readers of all ages will be able to track their reading using the online platform, Beanstack. Create your free account through the website at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or at orrville.beanstack.org. There also is a Beanstack Tracker app to download. Those who don’t have access to a computer can still participate.
As with any Orrville Public Library program or event, call the library at 330-683-1065 for additional assistance.
What are you reading?
Join Orrville Public Library staff on Facebook to catch the latest Book Buzz, meeting up at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1 to talk about the books everyone has been reading and to get suggestions for new reads. No registration is necessary.
Teen digital escape room
Teens grade 6-12 can participate in Orrville Public Library’s digital escape room. The link to access the escape room is https://forms.gle/u8ghkSVySH4HXGh46.

Participants will receive a code word when they complete the challenge, which they will enter into their summer reading Beanstack account to earn a badge. Feel free to explore the escape room multiple times throughout the summer, but you can only receive one badge.

Virtual Pet Showcase
Orrville Public Library’s Virtual Pet Showcase will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15. Kids and their families will have up to five minutes to show their pets and talk about them. Registration for this event will begin Tuesday, June 1. Prior to the event, participants will receive the Zoom link information.
Support the animals
As part of the Tails & Tales summer reading program, Orrville Public Library will accept donations of supplies for the Wayne County Humane Society. Suggested donations include dry puppy or kitten food, kitten formula, dry dog or cat food, wet canned food, scoopable cat litter, laundry detergent, bleach, masking tape, and 55-gallon heavy-duty trash bags. Additional items are listed at the Humane Society website at www.wchs.org/howtohelp.
Readers up to age 12 who bring in an item to donate will receive a one-time credit of 15 minutes added to their Beanstack reading log. Teens and adults will receive one Beanstack badge, no matter the amount of items donated. You must see a staff member at the time of donation to receive your credit or badge.
Donations will be accepted throughout the summer.
Should you be in a Zoo?
As part of Orrville Public Library’s Tails & Tales summer reading program, kids are invited to get their photo taken as an animal, using a photo app to put their face on the body of an animal.
Stop by the children’s department any time during the week of June 7-12 to participate. You will need to return to the library at a later date to pick up the color photo.
Folded paper hedgehog
Orrville Public Library will have the basic supplies and instructions to utilize this book-folding technique. This craft is geared for age 18 and over. Free kits will be available beginning June 1, while supplies last, at the information desk or at the drive-up window.
