Reader viewpoint: Who will be your doctor?
Letter to the Editor,
Professions that require post-graduate degrees and professions in which people advance as a result of graduate-level work are those that contribute to the health and well-being of our society.
They are our physicians, dentists, occupational and physical therapists, engineers, educators, and lawyers. They are our judges, hospital administrators, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and school counselors. At some time in our lives, we all rely on these members of our community.
One part of the Big Beautiful Bill limits government loans to graduate students. It also limits the amount parents can borrow to assist their graduate student offspring. Graduate school is already an expensive proposition. If we make graduate school even more cumbersome, who will the needed professionals be in the next several years? Who will be your doctor?
