Tienda Tour highlights Dover businesses
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Fourth & Faith will host a Tienda Tour on Saturday, Sept. 21. The walking tour will be at 5:30 p.m. at Fourth & Faith and will go to four different tiendas in downtown Dover. Guests will meet the owners of the stores and discover the different products for sale.
Tienda means shop in Spanish. In Latin American countries, tiendas are quite common. They are small mom and pop convenience stores that sell food items and other products to people in the neighborhood.
“In Dover and New Philadelphia, the tiendas offer products that are familiar to our Latino neighbors,” said Sherrel Rieger, adult program specialist, “but many Americans are unaware of the variety of items available in the store. The tour will be a great opportunity to learn about the culture and cuisine of our Latino neighbors.”
Fourth & Faith is located at the corner of East Fourth Street and North Wooster Avenue in Dover. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123. Participants can have their passports stamped at this event.
