United Way’s annual fundraising campaign kicks off
The United Way’s annual fundraising campaign officially kicks off this month. Last year the organization raised more than $770,000. The United Way’s annual campaign donations stay in Tuscarawas County and support United Way programs like The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and the 211 emergency help line, as well as several programs provided by agencies like Access Tuscarawas, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Harcatus, Ohio Guidestone and the YMCA.
Elizabeth Stephenson is serving as the 2024 United Way of Tuscarawas County campaign chair. Stephenson is a self-employed consultant on court management after having served as the court administrator of the Tuscarawas County Court of Common Pleas General Trial Division for 27 years.
Locally, Stephenson is involved in the Tuscarawas County Bar Association, the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Association Board of Directors, the Tuscarawas County University Foundation Board, the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition Board, and a board member of the Tuscarawas County Law Library Resources Board. She is a member of the New Philadelphia Lions Club and is involved in several other community service groups. Campaign vice chairs, who will serve as next year’s campaign chairs, are John and Vicki Maxwell.
“It is a joy and a privilege to work with Elizabeth on the United Way of Tuscarawas County’s annual campaign,” said Sarah Spies, United Way president. “Her passion for the people of Tuscarawas County is reflected not only in her career, but also her community involvement.”
UWTC is asking for the community’s support by investing in the organization’s mission to continue to fund health and human service programs in Tuscarawas County.
Assisting Stephenson as campaign solicitors are Bonnie Schrock, Andreas Furniture; Tammy Curry, Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union; Christina Blackwell, First Federal Community Bank; Andrew Wright, Hanhart Insurance Agency; Darlene Finzer and Paul McEwan, Rea & Associates; Elaine Tedrow, The Commercial & Savings Bank; Jeanne Stephen, Tuscarawas County Clerk of Courts; Sylvia Argento, Tuscarawas County Probate Court; Rachel Dunfee, Tuscarawas County Court of Common Pleas; and Agnes Swigart, community volunteer.
