Walnut Hills Retirement Community will host its second annual Ice Cream Extravaganza and Resource Fair on Thursday, July 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors to the event can tour several living options on the Walnut Hills campus, gather information from several community resources and get samples of ice cream from five local ice cream vendors.

There will be stops at an independent living home in The Meadows, an independent living home at The Commons, the assisted living suites at Evergreen Place, the Therapy Gym at the Transitional Care Unit and the outdoor pavilion near assisted living.

“We are excited to bring this fun event back to the community,” said Jodi Dean, director of marketing. “The five stops will give visitors an opportunity to tour the different living options at Walnut Hills, and each stop will have free samples from one of the participating ice cream vendors, as well as displays and representatives from community organizations.”

The five local ice cream vendors include Miller’s Creamery, Mudd Valley Creamery, Schloneger’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Smith Dairy and Velvet Ice Cream.

Several community organizations will participate in the Resource Fair. Pomerene Mobile Health Unit will provide free blood-pressure checks and will have information on other assessments and services it provides. Other participating resources include Area Agency on Aging, United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties, Society for Equal Access, Community Hospice, LifeCare Hospice, Smith Funeral Home, SSIP Insurance, and SpringHaven Counseling Center, with more to be added.

The event is free and open to individuals of all ages. Transportation between stops will be provided, and door prizes will be awarded.

“Everyone who attends will receive a tour card when they enter campus, and all attendees who visit each of the community resource displays and fill their tour card will have their names put into a drawing for several door prizes,” Dean said. “It is going to be a fun day, filled with information and treats.”

Walnut Hills is located on Olde Pump Street in Walnut Creek. For more information call 330-893-3200.
