Ashley Tate of Shreve has been named a 2025 Outstanding Senior by the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education and Leadership at Ohio State University. Tate, along with eight other seniors, was selected by the faculty and staff of the department for her excellence both in and out of the classroom.

“These nine students have demonstrated exceptional leadership, academic excellence and commitment to the agricultural industry throughout their time at Ohio State,” said Dr. Shannon Washburn, professor and chair of the department. “Being named an ACEL Outstanding Senior is a testament to their hard work and the impact they have made on our department and beyond.”

Tate majors in agricultural communication and minors in agribusiness. As an agricultural communication major, Tate has taken courses in journalism, public relations, photography, graphic design and more.

Outside of the classroom, Tate has been involved in the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, Collegiate Farm Bureau and 614 Church. She served as leadership chair and president of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, where she was able to network with industry professionals, sharpen her communication skills, and serve her college and community.

Tate also completed three internships during her time at Ohio State. As an intern for Ohio Farm Bureau, she built skills in graphic design, event planning and teamwork. She also made connections she keeps up with to this day that have helped her in her career.

During her time as an intern for Beck’s Hybrids, she learned she wanted to pursue a career in marketing and strategic communications and found a passion for helping businesses grow through marketing means. At Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, she developed skills in social media management, writing press releases and event planning.

“Ohio State’s top-quality communication and community feel sold me on the school,” Tate said.

She will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Following graduation, Tate will join the Stratovation Group team as an account coordinator. She is a graduate of West Holmes High School and the daughter of Russ and Laurie Tate.
