Williams named Wooster High softball coach
Jimmy Williams has been named the head softball coach at Wooster High School, the school announced recently. The hiring is pending school board approval.
For the past several years, Williams has served as president of the Wooster Summer Fastpitch Softball organization. Williams also has served as head coach of the Ashland Blaze Fastpitch travel softball team.
“I’m excited to lead the Wooster softball program. I’m ready to help student-athletes grow in the classroom and on the diamond,” Williams said. “The future is extremely bright, and we have a solid foundation here in Wooster. My goal is to build on that foundation and create a championship culture that starts with our varsity program and goes all the way through our youth program.”
“We are excited to welcome Jimmy Williams to our Wooster City Schools athletics family,” Athletic Director Alex Mallue said. “Jimmy brings a great deal of softball coaching and management experience to the table.
“As well, it is clear that Jimmy has been successful at building our Wooster Summer Youth Fastpitch program to a great place, and he is passionate about building positive relationships and providing a first-rate experience for his players through the sport. We are eager to watch him do the same with our Wooster High School softball program.”
Williams, a graduate of Heidelberg, where he was a four-year starter in baseball, works for Western Reserve Group in Wooster, where he lives with his family including his wife of 16 years, Dana, and daughters Avery and Norah.
