Boo in the Burg and Ohio Wine Tasting set up shop in giant tents in the parking lot behind the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau building in Millersburg Friday, Oct. 29, where wine and craft beer tasting was on tap, but the event was far more than that.

This was an event that brought people together to fellowship and commune, an evening that brought people within the community closer together as they shared an enjoyable night out simply relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere.

“It was such a neat evening of people just getting together and enjoying a night of relaxing fun that brought the community together,” said Judy Lamp, Historic Downtown Millersburg executive director. “One of the really neat things was to sit back and listen to all the conversations and laughter going on throughout the tents. People were able to reconnect with others they haven’t seen for a while, and just catch up with one another’s lives. The laughter and seeing people having a great time made my night.”

Lamp said there were so many different conversations among small groups going on that there was no way she could even pinpoint what people were talking and laughing about, she only knew that by the reactions taking place that people were having fun, which is one of the purposes of this event.

Lamp said the crowd was a mix of younger adults and long-time citizens, with people from 21 to 91-years-old participating.

Included in the event were live music by local band Broadway and a food truck that enhanced the atmosphere.

People could purchase a glass and five tickets and sample from the many wineries and craft beer companies who attended as vendors, with the proceeds from the event going right back into the HDM general fund that will help. The town promote upcoming events, of which there are many throughout the year.

“We continue to try to create events that are attractive to a variety of people, and our downtown business owners continue to do a great job of promoting everything we have to offer in HDM,” Lamp said.
