Calling All Collectors welcomes any and all unique collections
Calling All Collectors is a unique opportunity for people to showcase their collections.
Collections of what?
One of the neat things about this event is it can be a collection of anything, whether it’s marbles, old milk bottles, collectible toys or games, playing cards, carnival glass, jewelry, coins, plates, record albums, and anything else one might have built into a collection over time.
This event is part of the Holmes County Antique Festival Oct. 5-6 and will take place in American Hall during the two-day event.
To participate, one only need bring his or her favorite collection to display during the festival. To be classified as a collection, exhibits must consist of 10 or more pieces and fit into a space approximately 24 by 36 feet.
“It’s a mini-showcase, and it’s kind of like a fair entry in that people won’t be selling their collection. It’s only there for people to look at,” said Keri Rodhe, Antique Festival coordinator. “There’s no charge to get your collection in. It’s just for fun, and I think it could really turn into something fantastic that will be a nice addition to the weekend festivities.”
Rodhe said some of the collections coming in thus far include a collection of Elves from Amy Loveday, an IGA spice collection, milk bottles, a collection of wooden nickels and Millersburg Glass.
“It’s a bit like we used to do for the window collection, but it’s all going to be in one space, which will make it easy for people to check it all out,” Rodhe said.
Rodhe said they are still seeking collections and invite anyone who has a collection of anything and everything to stop by and get a form to sign up.
“We’re really hoping for some different collections that are out of the norm, but we’d love to get a lot of them to make it super interesting for visitors to view,” Rodhe said.
While Calling All Collectors is designed to be a way for visitors to the festival to pass the time and view some collections, there will be prizes awarded in three categories: Fan Favorite, Queen’s Choice and Oldest Collection.
“We hope this inspires people to bring in their collections, regardless of what they might be, so we can create a lot of interesting collections for people to peruse,” Rodhe said.
Collection forms may be picked up at Rodhe’s Marketplace in Millersburg on Glen Drive or by visiting the Holmes County Antique Festival Facebook page.
The deadline for submitting an entry is Sept. 25.
