Car show, cookout coming to Walnut Hills
Walnut Hills Retirement Community in Walnut Creek will host a community cookout and cruise-in car show on Thursday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The free event is open to the community and being held in conjunction with National Nursing Home Week, which is May 12-18.
Walnut Hills team members and volunteers will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, pasta salad, drinks and dessert. The cookout will be held under the large carport area in front of the nursing home.
Several local car enthusiasts will display their classic automobiles in the south parking lot of the nursing home.
“We encourage the community to come out on the 16th to help us celebrate National Nursing Home Week,” said Jodi Dean, Walnut Hills director of marketing.
The Walnut Hills Nursing Home was founded in 1971 and has been providing care for older adults and their families for more than five decades. The nursing home at Walnut Hills is rated a five-star facility by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and has been named a Best Nursing Home by U.S. News.
“Our team does an outstanding job of providing excellent care to our residents, and we want to not only celebrate the team’s dedication and excellence, but also the joy and wisdom our residents bring to our lives,” Dean said.
Walnut Hills is located at 4748 Olde Pump St. in Walnut Creek.
