Case Farms, a local poultry farming and processing group, achieved another safety milestone on Monday, May 8 after its Winesburg processing facility reached 2 million hours without experiencing an Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable lost-time accident.

“We are pleased to announce that the Winesburg complex has achieved this milestone for the first time. At Case Farms we understand this is no simple task, and it involves every team member across the complex working together to promote a safe workplace,” said Jeffrey Shanabarger, regional safety manager for the Ohio Division. “At Case Farms our goal is to be the safest poultry company, and this continues our commitment to safety.”

This is the first time the Winesburg facility has reached a significant safety milestone this year, but it’s not the only time. In 2022 the Winesburg facility was recognized twice for achieving 1 million hours without a recordable lost-time accident safety milestone.

An OHSA recordable lost-time accident occurs when an employee receives an injury where a doctor has determined the person cannot come to work until fully recovered. Typically, it takes about five to six months for a facility to reach 1 million man hours without a lost-time accident.

In addition to efforts made by employees, Case Farms implements a company-wide worker safety program.
