Clark Community Center ready for ‘eggs-cellent’ day of fun
Let the hunt begin!
The Clark Community Center will be home to the free Clark Easter egg hunt that will take place Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m. The event will take place rain or shine, with the fun moving outside if weather permits or into the community center should the weather be inclement.
The day will present plenty of fun activities and special prizes.
Last year, at a time when many Easter egg hunts were drowned out by inclement weather, CCC simply moved its hunt inside, where the board and countless volunteers helped hide more than 500 eggs throughout the center.
According to Taylor Faunce, CCC president, last year’s Easter egg hunt was kind of a last-second thing they decided to throw together for the local community.
Because of all the cancellations, it turned into something far more spectacular than they had ever anticipated.
“We kind of decided late in the game that we would throw it together, and because of the weather, we moved it inside, and we had a whole bunch of people kind of all over the place, crawling all over the center hiding all of these eggs filled with candy, coins and prizes. I think we had eggs hidden in every square inch of the center,” Faunce said. “We wanted to create something that kind of simply gave back to the community, and it was so well received that we decided it would have to be a regular event.”
While many people from the local Clark area came, so did people not just from all over the county but from far away.
Faunce said he talked to one family from Pennsylvania who has made a habit of coming to Holmes County during the Easter season simply for the Easter egg hunt experience.
They were saddened when the weather turned sour, but during a visit to Hershberger Farm and Bakery, they were talking about how disappointing it was when someone there mentioned they had seen on Facebook that Clark was holding its event rain or shine.
They quickly made haste for Clark and weren’t disappointed any longer.
Not only will this year’s eggs contain candy and coins, but like last year, there will be some bigger prizes featured in eggs with notes that some lucky child will find and be able to turn in to receive larger prizes donated from area businesses and individuals.
“That’s kind of a fun part of this because it makes it more exciting for the kids, “Faunce said. “We are always so grateful for the businesses who donate to our cause because we know they also like to give back to the community in any way they can.”
Faunce said that with the experience of last year and more time to prepare this time around, they hope to make this event even bigger and better, and rain or shine, indoors or outdoors, it should make for a fun-filled experience for the kids and a golden opportunity for some great photos for the parents.
Clark Community Center is located at 1390 state Route 83 in Clark, 10 minutes south of Millersburg.
