Flag presented to Wayne commissioners
Just like each year since 1976, Wooster Emblem Club members Sharon Stevens, Vera Rouhier and Ardenna Hunt recently presented a 15-by-25-foot flag to Wayne County commissioners Sue Smail, Becky Foster and Ron Amstutz. The flag will be flown over the courthouse on the square in downtown Wooster.
Club members recently voted to present the flag in time to be raised for Memorial Day rather than presenting it on Flag Day as has been done in the past. Due to safety concerns and the size of the flag, it is unable to be flown at half-staff.
Presenting the flag marked a special occasion for Rouhier, who also was celebrating her 96th birthday. In addition to being an Emblem Club member, she is active in committees, a pianist and has portrayed Betsy Ross on many occasions including the annual Wooster Memorial Day Parade.
