Florida Der Dutchman voted No. 1 buffet
Der Dutchman Restaurant in Sarasota, Florida, part of Walnut Creek-based Dutchman Hospitality Group, has been chosen as the No. 1 buffet in the country as a result of voting by the readers of USA Today in the 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards contest conducted during the month of May.
Widely known for made-from-scratch cooking featuring foods that celebrate the Amish and Mennonite traditions of the Midwest, the first Der Dutchman Restaurant opened 54 years ago in the small, rural town of Walnut Creek. Expanding over time, in 1985 the family-owned company opened a Der Dutchman Restaurant in the Amish community of Pinecraft, located within Sarasota.
In addition to a varied menu, Der Dutchman Restaurants continue to serve traditional foods including broasted chicken, noodles, dressing and real mashed potatoes, all of which are included on the hot buffet at Der Dutchman Restaurant in Sarasota. Visitors can get the buffet and salad bar or choose from the menu, and it is recommended to save room for a slice of pie or a freshly made pastry from the onsite bakery.
The 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards highlight the best of the best in contests covering categories such as destinations, food and drink, hotels, and things to do. Nominees in all categories are submitted by a panel of experts. The final set of nominees are selected by 10 Best editors before being presented to the public. Readers can vote once per category, per day. After four weeks of voting, the contest closes.
Der Dutchman Restaurants are part of Dutchman Hospitality Group, a family-owned company that includes restaurants, inns, shops and a theater in Ohio, Indiana and Florida.
