An annual spring event — the Drive Electric Earth Month Electric Car Drive-In — is looking for sponsors, vendors, supporters and volunteers.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 4 in Wooster, provides a way to connect prospective electric vehicle buyers with current owners to ask questions, share experiences and even get behind the wheel.

“The idea is to provide a place for curious folks to see (electric vehicles) in person and talk with owners about their experiences,” said Ryan Leeper, event captain.

Organizers anticipate 1,500 attendees and 50 different electric vehicle models including cars, motorcycles and trucks.

“We really do see a range of interests in the attendees,” Annie Yoder of Local Roots Market & Cafe said. “Some are interested in electric vehicles for their environmental impact, some for their savings on fuel, some for their interest in the technologies.”

Additionally, with the event held in downtown Wooster in the Local Roots parking lot, many people drop in to the free event out of curiosity while downtown for shopping and socializing.

Sponsors and vendors have the opportunity to reach everyone attending the event and thousands more, depending on the level of support. Sponsorships begin at $25 and include booth space at the event and logo inclusion on printed event materials and the event webpage. The perks are added onto those as sponsorship amount increases.

For $100 sponsors also will be tagged on social media platforms with over 13,000 followers. Almost all of these followers are located within a 100-mile radius of Wooster.

At $250 sponsorship includes all the previous perks with the addition of a company highlight and link in the Local Roots Market & Cafe weekly newsletter, which reaches over 3,500 individuals who primarily reside in the area. Customizable sponsorship amounts are available as well.

Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event, and donations are welcome. All event proceeds will go to costs and upkeep of Local Roots Market & Cafe's electric vehicle charging stations.

For more information regarding sponsoring, donating, or becoming a vendor or volunteer, email Kate Frichtl, Local Roots community engagement coordinator, at kate@localrootswooster.com.

The deadline for logo inclusion on the event flyers is April 6.

Donations also may be made in person at Local Roots Market & Cafe. Find the event online at https://driveelectricearthmonth.org/event?eventid=4133.
