Good weather brings out runners, walkers in Loudonville
The second annual Mohican 5K Race took place on a beautiful sunny but cool morning Oct. 18 on the Loudonville-Mohican bike path in Loudonville. With a field of more than 150 registrants, overall first place finisher was Loudonville High School senior Bryan Derr with a time of 19:51. Top female finisher was Dusty Au, of Howard, with a time of 21:04. First place in the female and male walk categories respectively were Noelle Snyder (33:54) and Vern Payne (35:16), both of New Albany. The event was hosted by the Loudonville-Mohican Chamber of Commerce, with all proceeds benefiting the maintenance and extension of the bike path, which is scheduled to be extended to the Mohican State Park campground entrance next spring.Race coordinator Chris Tuttle was pleased with the race. “We had an excellent group of racers from all over Ohio, and great help from all our sponsors and volunteers.” Next year’s Mohican 5K is scheduled for Oct. 17, 2010.
