Hiland Student of the Week

Jaden Beachy, 15, a freshman at Hiland High School, is the son of Junior and Crystal Beachy.
Jaden attended Walnut Creek Elementary, and his favorite teacher was Mr. Monigold. “He really connected with us. He made school fun.”
The teacher he feels has made the biggest impact on him is Mrs. Reynolds. “She was always kind and helpful and showed us even through hard times you should keep going and make the most of your life.”
Some of his memorable scholastic experiences are “getting on the principal’s list seven times and going to Pizza Hut (and) getting the Great Lakes Scholar Award.”
His extracurricular activities are basketball and baseball.
Jaden’s plans for the future are to “go to college (I would prefer Ohio State). Maybe major in engineering.”
In his spare time, he likes to “hang out with friends, open gym, read, computer, (and) text.”
His words of wisdom for younger students are, “Pay attention, ask questions, and study. Keep going if you have a bad year.”
When asked what he would change about the American school system, Jaden stated, “The lack of physical education. I think kids should be more active. I would make physical education required all four years.”

“Jaden Beachy is a very conscientious student. He is a freshman this year and is only beginning his high school career, but has already proven that he is determined, and certainly capable, of completing the tasks set before him. He is a willing volunteer in class, and works hard to understand the material. Jaden works well with his classmates, and is also an amiable and respectful young man. I am looking forward to watching Jaden accomplish great things in his next four years at Hiland.”
