Holmes County Commissioners’ Awards honor active area teens
Holmes County 4-H is more than uniting with other youth for fun times. It also is about extending oneself in leadership and community involvement, and each year several area youth who exemplify those traits are honored at the fair.
On the opening day of the fair on Monday, Aug. 6 at Harvest Ridge, the Holmes County Fair joined with the Holmes County Commissioners to present the annual Holmes County Commissioners’ Awards to area teens who are heavily involved in their communities.
This year saw four more talented and caring teens receive awards in leadership and citizenship.
The Junior Leadership Award went to Ashley Tate, a member of the Lakeville Country Farmer’s 4-H club. The Senior Leadership Award went to Jessica Gurley, a member of the Buckeye 4-H club.
The Junior Citizenship Award went to Aubree Houin of the Nashville Jolley Farmer’s 4-H club while the Senior Citizenship Award was given to Laura Irwin, a member of the Nashville Jolley Farmer’s 4-H club.
Each of the award winners received $50 and a plaque.
