Jenyce’s School of Dance presenting ‘Disney Magic’
Over the years dancers who participate at Jenyce Haudenschild-Wise’s Jenyce’s School of Dance have loved to show off their artistic talents. Their upcoming performance will show off their passion for not only dancing, but also for supporting a fellow dancer facing some tough medical issues.
Jenyce’s School of Dance will present “Disney Magic” on June 11 at 6 p.m. at West Holmes High School’s Excalibur Theater.
In addition, the show will be dedicated to “Love for Landree,” as in Landree Taylor, a young dancer who is battling cancer right now.
“We came up with the idea of dedicating the show to Landree, and the girls loved the idea,” Haudenschild-Wise said.
Landree Taylor, the young daughter of Rod and Lindsay Taylor, was diagnosed with leukemia in December 2021 and is currently undergoing treatment.
In addition, Jenyce’s School of Dance members will host a bake sale during the night of the performance with all baked goods available through donation. All the money raised there, along with the funds brought in from the concessions stand and a portion of the ticket sales, will go directly to the Taylor family to help pay for medical expenses.
Tickets to attend the event may be pre-ordered by calling Jenyce’s School of Dance at 330-763-3223 or may be purchased at the door if there are still tickets remaining.
This marks the 30th year Haudenschild-Wise has provided young area dancers with a chance to shine on stage and hone their dance skills, and she said she relishes each opportunity to do so.
“A lot of my former students are now teaching at the Holmes Center for the Arts,” Haudenschild-Wise said. “Shine Bright is a wonderful place to enjoy competition. So many have branched out as dancers and teachers. My school today is a recreational school, and we don’t do competitions, but I still enjoy giving young children the chance to explore the art of dance and learn how much fun it can be.”
She said between Shine Bright, Holmes Center for the Arts and her studio, there are plenty of opportunities for young people to explore dance in Holmes County.
She said she also encourages her students to branch out into other areas like sports, music, writing or cheerleading, as long as they are remaining active.
She said she has recently added new aspects to her dance classes including karate, spinning and twirling.
“I like the balance,” Haudenschild-Wise said.
She and her students also like the idea of supporting a fellow dancer and friend, which is why they hope to see plenty of smiling faces at their upcoming show.
Jenyce’s School of Dance is located at 308 N. Washington St. in Millersburg.
