The February Leadership Orrville session took place at the Wayne County Schools Career Center, where participants got a firsthand look at the programs available to high school juniors and seniors.

The class kicked off the day with a tour of the various career-focused programs offered at the center, allowing attendees to engage in hands-on activities and gain a deeper understanding of the training these programs provide to students.

The day continued with a session on stoicism and emotional intelligence, led by Dr. Heather Howley, who shared strategies for managing emotions, especially in the workplace, and emphasized how understanding and controlling one’s emotions can impact personal and professional success.

A highlight of the session was a panel discussion featuring educational leaders Lynn Moomaw, Dr. David Toth and Howley. The panel explored the current positive trends in education and the challenges faced by educators today. They also discussed ways the community can collaborate to support and enhance the educational experience for local students.

The class wrapped up with a session by Dr. Angela Hartsock on the Objectives and Key Results goal-setting method. Hartsock provided insight into how individuals and organizations can set clear, measurable goals to drive success and productivity in both personal and professional settings.

The Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce continues to offer a variety of programs that support youth, young professionals and individuals across all career stages. For more information about the chamber, visit www.orrvillechamber.com.
