A record number of electric vehicles were sold in the United States last year, and for anyone who already has one, didn’t buy one yet or is simply curious, the sixth Electric Car Drive-in and Earth Day event on May 4 in downtown Wooster will be an opportunity to learn more.

The gathering will be held in the parking lot of Local Roots Market & Cafe and on Walnut Street in the block of the store. There will be a variety of electric vehicles, lawn mowers, tools, informational booths, demonstrations and kids activities. There also will be coffee and lunch available for purchase throughout.

Some of the items will be demonstrated, and ride-alongs will be available.

Information will be available with people on hand to answer questions about a variety of things related to sustainable transportation and the environmental benefits of electric vehicles. Booth participants include the Wayne County Sustainable Energy Network and the local chapter of Citizen’s Climate Lobby.

“Electric vehicle technology is constantly evolving with advancements in battery technology, charging infrastructure and vehicle design,” said Kate Frichtl, community engagement coordinator at Local Roots. “Attending electric vehicle events allows you to stay updated on the latest developments and emerging trends in the electric vehicle ecosystem.”

The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 140 S. Walnut St. Visit www.localrootswooster.com/electric-car-drive-in or www.driveelectricearthmonth.org/event?eventid=4133 to register, volunteer or sign up your electric vehicle. Registering to attend is not required.

“Attending an electric vehicle event provides a valuable opportunity to learn, experience, connect and contribute to the advancement of sustainable transportation solutions,” Frichtl said. “Whether you’re an industry professional, an enthusiast or simply curious about electric vehicles, these events offer something for everyone.”
