Detective Tony Lemmon has been selected as the 2010 Officer of the Year for the Wooster City Police Department.
The presentation of the award was made April 13 by Wooster Police Chief Steve Glick.
In making the award, Glick noted that Lemmons nomination letter pointed out that Detective Lemmon sets a good example for younger officers and that he doesnt settle for average.
According to Glick, Lemmon is a 15-year veteran of the Wooster Police force where he has served as a patrol officer, a member of the Wooster SWAT team, and as a detective in the citys detective bureau.
Lemmon graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in criminology in 1994 and joined the Wooster Police Department in December of 1995.
During his time as a patrol officer, Lemmon served as a field training officer and was a member of the SWAT team for five years. He was named a detective in May of 2006 and is a computer voice street analysis examiner and a member of the departments Honor Guard.
Lemmon has served the community on the planning committee for the Salvation Army and as a board member for the United Way.
