Loudonville Street Fair offers a fantastic, fun week
There will be numerous animals on display as part of the junior fair livestock exhibit at the annual Loudonville Street Fair Oct. 5-9.
In 1876 when Ulysses S. Grant was being inaugurated as the 18th United States president, Loudonville was kicking off its inaugural Loudonville Street Fair.
It’s been more than a century, but the fair has rolled along ever since its inception, and it will be thrilling families as usual again this fall.
The 2021 Loudonville Street Fair will light up downtown Loudonville Oct. 5-9 with plenty of rides, fair food and entertainment for the whole family.
One of the oldest festivals in the area, the 132nd Loudonville Street Fair is free to the public, and this year’s theme is “Country Fair, Bring Me Home.”
This year’s festival is in memory of Jack Ashby, longtime fair board director who passed away March 25, 2021, after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma. A lifelong Loudonville resident, Ashby’s smiling face will be missed by those who worked alongside him and knew him.
The weekend will feature plenty of family activities including pedal pulls for the kids, an antique farm machinery display, the Loudonville Fair queen contest, and the senior king and queen contest.
As for the live entertainment, it comes in waves throughout the week, beginning with a demonstration from the Rising Star Martial Arts crew on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in Central Park, followed by a live performance by classic rock group, Mad River, on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. on the west main stage. The Swon Brother, finalists on the hit TV show, “The Voice,” will perform on the west main stage on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 9-10 p.m. Country singer Emily Ann Roberts will perform Thursday, Oct. 7 from 8-8:45 p.m. on the west main stage.
Never Surrender will take the west main stage on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m., where they will pound out their classic 1970s and 1980s rock songs. On Saturday, Oct. 9 the stage will see Shining Stars Studio dancing its way into people’s hearts at 2 p.m., with the music group Joyful Noise taking the stage at 3:30 p.m., followed by Tightrope’s rock performance at 5 p.m.
Exhibitors will want to sign up to participate in the produce exhibition that features all types of produce grown in this current year. There also will be flower exhibits; a quilt show contest; a fiber arts contest; a contest for culinary, canned and baked goods; an antiques show contest; a contest for collections, crafts and hobbies; and an art and photography contest.
In addition, there will be a junior fair livestock exhibit, merchants’ tent, FFA, 4-H, Scouting and Kettering School display.
The annual power pull will feature numerous categories including garden tractor, tractor, trucks and more.
With plenty of games, rides, attractions and fair food available throughout the week, there are plenty of reasons for everyone to stop by Loudonville.
