Fine dining at one of Holmes County’s most iconic restaurants and an opportunity to help a worthy cause at the same time? That is the best of all worlds, and Love INC of Holmes County is the organization that is setting that possibility in motion. Love INC will head to Der Dutchman Restaurant in Walnut Creek Tuesday, May 17 for its second annual Love INC Dinner Fundraiser. The Love Inc. crew will be working from 4-7:30 p.m., and patrons may choose from the menu, hot buffet or salad bar. The evening will feature Love INC board members and church volunteers serving as hosts and waiters or waitresses, with a small percentage of each meal and all of the tips going directly to the general fund of Love INC The last time this took place the evening brought in close to $2,500, and the hope is that this year’s event will soar past that hefty number. According to Love INC director Vicki Conn, the event serves as more than just a fundraiser for the organization. “Obviously, the primary purpose is as a fundraiser, but it also is an evening for all of the volunteers within the organization to get together and have a lot of fun,” Conn said. “Also, it provides a good avenue for us to talk to the community about some of the neat things we have coming up on the horizon.” Conn said the Love INC general budget allows them to coordinate the networking of area churches that have a deep desire to get involved with helping to meet the needs of area families who are struggling. The fund also helps in the continuing process of creating new ministries that continue to crop up as Love INC seeks to build relationships and find ministries that help meet needs that arise throughout the community. “So much of what we are finding is that there are so many different needs that we hear about through referrals from area churches,” Conn said. “We are continually trying to find ways to make new programs to help meet these various needs. We actually have several new GAP ministries that are coming up very soon, and we are excited about how that might open doors in serving as a ministry in Holmes County.” Lending a hand to a local ministry may never be tastier than this one, so don’t miss this chance to dine while helping those in need.
