History comes to life in the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country as the Holmes County Historical Society recently announced the grand reopening of the Victorian House Museum and Millersburg Glass Museum.

Hours are Saturday and Sunday only in March from 1-4 p.m. and Tuesday through Sunday from April through October, also from 1-4 p.m. The museums are closed on Mondays.

The two museums create a destination for history lovers, collectors, families and anyone seeking a cultural experience while exploring scenic Holmes County.

The Victorian House Museum, a 28-room mansion built in 1902, invites visitors to wander through restored rooms filled with period furnishings, local artifacts and the stories of the families who lived there. From ornate woodwork and stained-glass windows to parlors and antiques, every detail paints a picture of life in the early 1900s.

Right next door the Millersburg Glass Museum tells the story of a fleeting yet brilliant chapter in American glassmaking history. Operating for only a few years between 1909 and 1912, the Millersburg Glass Company produced some of the rarest and most collectible glassware in the world. New for 2025 is the recent addition to the display of the rare ruffled top blue Peoples Vase purchased in 2024 by museum curator Chris Sieverdes for $250,000.

Visitors can marvel at a collection of Millersburg’s signature iridescent carnival glass and crystal pieces — each a work of art by creator John Fenton.
