The Massillon Museum invites the public to attend the Studio M exhibition opening of “Thumbprint/Mathematics: Thumbprint of the Divine” by Amy Lynn Schlabach on Friday, Oct. 9 from 6-8 p.m. in the museum’s Fred F. Silk Community Room. The party is free, casual and open to everyone; no reservations are required. Amy Lynn Schlabach is a contemporary abstract acrylic painter whose love for art was ignited during visits to the Cleveland Museum of Art during her frequent hospital stays as a child. Her primary source of inspiration for her richly diverse subject matter is a love of mathematics. Schlabach has a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Malone University. 0x51287e40“Everywhere I look,” she said, “I see beautiful design with the hum of mathematics buzzing in the wings, evidence of a beautiful designer, a master artist.” 0x51287f00The majority of Schlabach’s work has been commissioned pieces hanging in churches and private residences throughout Ohio and several other states. She has exhibited pieces at Rebecca’s Bistro, Studio What, The Barrel Room and Bfearless. Recently, Schlabach has added small works of pointillism (archival ink on linen) to her repertoire. Whether painting large acrylic works or fashioning small pointillism pieces, she loves to create art that evokes contemplation, meditation and prayer. 0x52c616e0The artist makes her home in the rolling hills of Ohio’s Amish Country, just outside Berlin, Ohio. She and her husband, Tim, have been married 19 years and have two teenage boys. 0x51287db0In addition to viewing the Studio M exhibition, visitors can see “Tiger Legacy: Our Tiger Football Family”; “Civil War: The Battlefield and the Homefront”; “Massillon and the War of the Rebellion: Grand Army of the Republic”; “I Heard It through the Grapevine: The Telegraph and the Civil War”; “Paul Brown: The Professional Years”; and “It’s Been Awhile.” “The Immel Circus” is always on display. The Thumbprints Studio M exhibition may be seen through Nov. 15 during regular museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 2-5 p.m. For more information, call the Massillon Museum at 330-833-4061 or visit www.massillonmuseum.org.
