Holmes County District Public Library announced summer activities and programs in June. Call the library at 330-674-5972 for more information or to register for any events.

Story time at the East Branch Library will take place Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. on June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. All ages are welcome. There is an ocean theme.

Summer Reading Kick-Off for “Oceans of Possibilities” will take place Friday, June 3 from 5-7 p.m. at the Central Library. There will be outdoor events and activities.

The Summer Reading Program will begin June 6 and run through July 30. Join and earn prizes for reading. There are programs for children, teens and adults.

Microwave Meals by Kate is for adults and will take place Tuesday, June 7 at 6 p.m. at the Central Library. Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension services educator, will show options for quick and easy microwave meals. Registration is required.

A family movie will be shown on Thursday, June 9 at 6 p.m. at the Central Library. This movie experience will allow attendees to sing and tell jokes with a clownfish and his friends. Children must be with an adult, and registration is required. Call the library for the movie title, rated G.

Story time will take place at the Central Library on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. on June 10, 17 and 24 for age 2-5 with an adult.

Paws to Read will take place Saturday, June 11 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Central Library. Kids are invited to read to a licensed therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines.

Backyard Fun for Teens will take place Monday, June 13 from 5-6 p.m. at the Central Library backyard and meeting room. The event is for age 12-18 and includes yard games, Nerf blasters hot dogs, snacks and drinks.

Take & Make for Teens will be available June 15-30 at the Central Library or the East Branch Library. Kits will include all supplies needed to craft a seashell tealight candle.

The Whalemobile will be available Wednesday, June 15 at 2 p.m. at the Central Library for age 5 and up. Children will get to go inside a life-sized replica of a humpback whale. There will be a prize drawing at the end of the program. Registration is required for a 30-minute time slot.

Pirate Treasure Hunt will take place Wednesday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at the Central Library for age 12 and under to make pirate accessories, decorate treasure chests and go on a hunt for pirate treasure.

Flip Flop Summer Wreath Craft for adults will be Thursday, June 23 at 6 p.m. at the Central Library. Registration is required.

Ocean Model Resin Craft will be Monday, June 27 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Central Library for age 12-18 to create an ocean floor model using themed materials. Materials will be provided, or attendees can bring their own.

A book discussion for adults will take place Tuesday, June 28 at 1 p.m. at the Central Library, discussing “The Poppy Wife,” a novel of the Great War by Caroline Scott. At 6 p.m. at Jitters Coffee House, there will be a discussion of “The Girls With No Names” by Serena Burdick. Books are available to borrow at the Central Library.

Draw Along Stories with Jeff Nicholas Art will be Thursday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at the Central Library for age 5 and up. There will be stories and draw-along cartoon characters with a prize drawing at the end of the program.
