The next Orrville Chamber Networking Empowers Roundtable will feature Christy Haidet, senior manager of internal communications at The J.M. Smucker Co., on Thursday, May 11 from 8:30-10 a.m. at The J.M. Smucker Co.

Haidet will discuss the role communications plays in creating and maintaining an engaged workforce. During the event Haidet will walk through the communications process her team subscribes to, from strategy setting to execution, and will provide case studies for those in attendance to work through in teams.

An employee with The J.M. Smucker Co. for 11 years, Haidet and her team are responsible for delivering employee communications that support and aid in the adoption of company culture, provide clarity and connection to the company's long-term strategies and priorities, and inspire and engage the Smucker workforce of over 6,000 employees.

As a first-generation college student, Haidet received her bachelor's degree in journalism and sociology from Bowling Green State University and her MBA, specializing in human resources, from Ashland University. Before joining the Smucker team, she worked for The Daily Record in Wooster as a community news reporter and sportswriter.

An Orrville native, she graduated from Orrville High School, as did her siblings: Matthew (Kristy and Monty) Johnson, Kelley (Josh Graber) Johnson and Maggie (Stephanie Freeman) Johnson. She and her husband Doug have a toddler son named Murphy and a cat named Tito and reside in Ashland. Haidet is a supporter of mental health initiatives and diversity, inclusion and equity efforts.

On May 11 the group should meet at Central to check in with security at 8:30 a.m.
