Something for Seniors to make MCC connection

A speaker from MCC Connections, located on Kidron Rd. in Kidron, will share at Something for Seniors on Tuesday, April 27, at The Pier. MCC Connections is a thrift shop, quilt room and material resource center. Volunteers help sort, clean, price and stock shelves and also serve as cashiers. In the quilt room, volunteers help by quilting, cutting, piecing, knotting comforters and rug weaving. The resource center volunteers collect and process items. Clean, useful donations to MCC thrift shops provide affordable family clothing and household items for any community member in need. In turn, the funds raised from the sale of these goods become a “gift to the world,” through MCC’s work among people suffering from poverty, conflict, oppression and natural disasters. Area seniors are invited to come to hear more about this important work. There will be no meal served following the program, because the Bloodmobile will be using The Pier in the afternoon. However, there will be a discounted menu at Mountain Top Restaurant for Something for Seniors. Something for Seniors, events planned for senior citizens, are scheduled at The Pier the last Tuesday of each month. Senior citizens are invited to come at their leisure from 9-10 a.m., and enjoy coffee, tea and conversation. The planned program will begin at 10 a.m. For information, call Jean and Mahlon Steffen, Something for Seniors program directors, at 330-857-8484 or The Pier at 330-359-2071. This is the last Something for Seniors program this season. Next season’s programming will begin in September. The Pier is located at 10470 Winesburg Rd., approximately 1 miles south of Mt. Eaton or 4 miles north of Winesburg, and is handicap accessible.
