Spring will bloom at Amish Country Spring Home and Garden Market
This winter has seen the area hit with some sturdy winter weather that has brought a certain amount of grayness to the days and had people shivering.
Now it’s time to usher in some light at the end of the tunnel that brings with it spring and a time of renewed hope of brighter, sunnier and warmer days.
The annual Amish Country Spring Home and Garden Market will take place at the Mt. Hope Event Center on Thursday, Feb. 27 from noon to 8 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission for the show is $10 with kids age 16 and under free.
The event features more than 200 home and garden exhibitors peddling all things spring, from new zero-turn mowers to landscaping, outdoor lawn furniture, Amish-built furniture, remodeling, patio designs and more.
Show promoter Jody Witzky is no stranger to Mt. Hope, having hosted numerous grand shows in the expo center. He said the Spring Amish Country Home and Garden Market is one for the whole family and offers something for every outdoor, landscaping and gardening person.
“This show is quality from top to bottom,” Witzky said. “Every single vendor here brings something to the show that is valuable and of the best quality, and there is absolutely something for everyone here — home décor, doors and windows, lawn mowers, landscaping, just everything anyone could want. I think we have companies that bring in sheds you could practically live in. That’s the type of quality that fills this show. Dollar for dollar and booth for booth, I don’t think people will find a better show in terms of quality and selection.”
With a waiting list of more than 115 vendors waiting to get a chance to set up at this show, it speaks volumes as to how important this event is to vendors.
As for the public, it means one thing: Springtime is right around the corner.
“It is the gateway to curing spring fever,” Witzky said, “whether people want to get to work inside their home or outside.”
He said some people may venture to the show with no idea what they want or what to expect, and others may know exactly what they want but will end up finding so much more.
“I think once people get here, they are inspired to pursue other ideas because there’s so much to see and experience,” Witzky said.
As something to entice seniors to attend, seniors can get 50% off their ticket price Thursday.
As he has done in prior shows, Witzky has once again invested his own money into thanking the public. During his winter outdoorsman show, he purchased a 4-by-4 to give away to one lucky winner. This time he has purchased a greenhouse to give away to one lucky winner.
Witzky said there is no catch. There will be no follow-up calls and no surveys to fill out.
“There’s no gimmick. This does give us some idea as to where our people attending come from, but most importantly, we just want those who attend to know how much we appreciate them,” Witzky said.
The drawing for the greenhouse will be Saturday at 4 p.m. The only stipulation is the winner picks up the greenhouse by Sunday at noon.
It is little additions like this that have made the Amish Country Spring Home and Garden Market a fan favorite.
