Stockdale Family Band to perform annual show
The ninth annual Stockdale Family Band Bluegrass and Gospel Show will be Saturday, April 1 at 7 p.m. at Amish Country Theater between Berlin and Walnut Creek.
The Stockdale Family Band has performed bluegrass and gospel music for more than 12 years, but before that they lived the city life until parents Kathy and Tim Stockdale changed direction and moved their sons to the countryside.
Along the way their four boys grew to love the sound of stringed instruments and spent many an evening picking and singing together. They often spent kitchen and farm chore time together singing their favorite songs and honing their harmonies. It didnt take long for the family to discover others enjoyed the bluegrass, gospel and old-time sound too.
Its the greatest feeling in the world for us to harmonize and pick together and to bond in that way, Tim Stockdale said. Looking back at these past 12 years, words cant express our gratefulness for having been able to do what we love best together as a family. We have loved sharing our passion with such wonderful audiences.
The Stockdale Family Band has performed on big stages and been featured on TV, but they still feel that the most important stage in the world is in the living room with family and friends, young and old, picking and singing together.
The core group now includes Tim (guitar), sons Jacob (fiddle) and James (upright bass), and guest banjo player Joe Steiner. The Stockdales shows mix bluegrass and gospel standards, obscure old songs, and band originals with regular doses of down-home comedy.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Presale tickets are $15 and $20 at the door. Tickets for guests 16 and under are half price. A portion of all proceeds will support persecuted Christians in Iraq.
