Union Hospital recently honored 144 employees with a combined 2,075 years of service to the hospital during its annual Employee Service Awards Program. This totals more than 757,000 days of service, or more than 18 million hours of service to the hospital. Union Hospital President and CEO Bruce James presented awards to one employee for 45 years of service to the hospital, and three employees for 40 years of service. Paul Miller of Dover, a member of the hospital’s maintenance staff, received an award for 45 years of service. Three employees were honored for marking 40 years of service with the hospital. They are: Susan Liberatore of New Philadelphia, a physical therapy attendant in the hospital’s physical therapy department. Silvia Mastellarini-Ray of New Philadelphia, a nurse in the emergency department. Shari Strickmaker of Dover, a medical technologist in the hospital’s lab department. James praised all of the employees who were honored for their dedication, service and performance to the hospital, its patients and the community. “One of our greatest strengths is the quality of our employees,” he said. “Our ability to recruit and retain skilled, compassionate people sets this hospital apart. To reach 40 or 45 years of dedicated service is a remarkable achievement.” Three staff members were presented with 35-year awards. They are Margaret Crites of Tuscarawas, Gary Crowthers of Brightwood and Sandra Ickes of Uhrichsville. Receiving 30-year awards were Shawn Archer of New Philadelphia, Kevin Hamsher of Dover, Marsha Henninge of Dover, Rhonda Karl of New Philadelphia, Julie Mason of Dover and Rick Mason of Dover. Service awards also were presented to 14 employees who have achieved 25 years of service, seven employees for 20 years of service, 34 employees for 15 years of service, 49 employees for 10 years of service and 27 employees for five years of service.
