The Wayne County Historical Society reopened for the 2022 season on March 5 with two new exhibits, plus a chance to see the second-floor bedrooms of the Beall-Stibbs House fully furnished for the first time in more than 20 years. Tours of the eight-building campus will be available every Saturday at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and free for those under 14. The historical society is located at 546 E. Bowman St. in Wooster. The parking lot entrance is on Spink Street, just north of Bowman.

The historical society’s first pop-up exhibit, “Apron Strings,” will display the variety of aprons made and used in Wayne County, from organza to crocheted, pleated to feed sack. The exhibit will run through June 19.

The dry goods store will host another new display, “A Season of Quilts: Spring,” the first of four exhibits showcasing quilts from the historical society’s collection, in this case the pastel-colored quilts of spring. The second-floor bedrooms of the Beall-Stibbs House have recently been fully furnished with period-appropriate pieces for the first time since 2000.

The 2022 season also is the last chance to see “Votes for Women!” — a special exhibit commemorating the ratification of the 19th Amendment. The exhibit looks at how the suffrage movement fits into the larger context of women’s political and social activism in Wayne County, from abolition to the temperance movement.

The Wayne County Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of Wayne County. Learn more at www.waynehistoricalohio.org or call 330-264-8856.
