Willey honored at Kent
Dr. Nicole Willey, Kent State University at Tuscarawas English professor, was recently selected as one of the Kent State University Women’s Center 2020 Mothers, Mentors and Muses.
Mothers, Mentors and Muses is the Women’s Center’s signature event that recognizes Kent State University female-identifying faculty or staff who have made a significant difference in the life of a student or colleague. More than 400 women across the university have received this honor.
Willey will be recognized for positively impacting the lives of students and colleagues and as someone who embodies the role of mother, mentor and/or muse at the Mothers, Mentors and Muses Scholarship Fundraiser Reception at Kent State in April. She was nominated by colleagues Dr. Ikpe Justice Akpan and Dr. Amanda Hayes.
The Women’s Center defines Mother as one who has helped “birth” ideas, thoughts and academic endeavors in others or who serves as a nurturing individual to others; Mentor as one who serves as a trusted counselor, colleague and/or role model; and Muse as one who inspires creativity and artistic/academic passion in others.
