Summary: Downtown Wooster showed its patriotic colors during the annual Memorial Day parade on May 30. Wooster paid tribute to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation during the annual Memorial Day parade on May 30. The long parade route, which stretched from the Wayne County Fairgrounds to Wooster Cemetery, was lined three and four deep as members of the community gathered to pay tribute to those who have and continue to serve the nation. Organized by the Wooster Memorial Day Parade Committee and lead by Parade Marshals Harry McMorrow and Bob McCarter, the annual commemoration of America’s fallen heroes included honor guards from various veterans organizations including the 555 Honors Detachment and the Wooster City Police Department honor guard. In addition to fire trucks and ambulances from area fire departments and mounted units, the parade also featured floats from a variety of organizations including the Wooster Emblem Club and cars bearing veterans from WWII to the present. Marching in the parade were the Wooster High School and Edgewood Middle School bands as well Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts from throughout the area. At the end of the parade route, the community gathered at the Wayne County Veterans Memorial at Wooster Cemetery for a special program honoring the fallen.
