072511 Global Body and Equipment bringing new jobs to county
Summary: New jobs are heading for Wayne County compliments of Wooster based Global Body and Equipment Company.
A Wooster based company is expanding and bringing new jobs to Wayne County.
The approval of an Enterprise Zone Agreement with Wooster based Global Body and Equipment Company by the Wayne County Commissioners during their July 13 meeting has paved the way for an expansion of the companys operations that is expected to bring 12 additional jobs to the area.
After several months of working with Global Body and Equipment Company were here to ask that you authorize an Enterprise Zone Agreement for the company, which plans to expand their operations in Wooster Township, Wayne Economic Development Council President Rod Crider advised the commissioners.
According to Crider the company currently employs 80 people at their location on Sylvan Road and plans to add an additional 12 employees with the expansion.
They are good wages, well above our per capital income and other measures that we look at in evaluating Enterprise Zone Agreement recommendations, said Crider.
According to Crider the company plans to build a new 11,000 square foot addition and remodel about 10,000 square feet that will allow them to bring some new business into their operation.
Crider noted that the between equipment and construction costs associated with the expansion the companys total financial investment in the new expanded facility is approximately $1,350,00 of which $1 million will be spend on equipment and the remaining $350,000 on construction costs.
Since there is no property tax on personal property any more, were asking that you abate 50 percent of the property taxes on the $350,000 for new construction for a period of 10 years, said Crider describing the terms of the agreement.
What were doing is adding a building to put in a new paint facility, Company President Dan Oliver advised the commissioners.
We currently have a paint line thats about 30 years old. The new paint line will be one of the largest in the State of Ohio. Well be able to do parts that we cant currently do, said Oliver.
It also is the latest technology processes that will allow is to do some painting processes that we cant currently do, said Oliver adding we will also be one of a very few people in the State of Ohio who can do this new type of process.
Im glad to see that this is moving forward. said Commissioner Ann Obrecht adding I am very glad that youre going to be able to expand here.
We know that you have options to go anywhere that you want to. Were glad youre here in Wayne County and expanding, said Commissioner Scott Wiggam.
Wiggam noted that the community will see multiple benefits from the Global Body and Equipment Company expansion.
According to Wiggam in addition to providing new jobs, the new positions represent an increase in the companys payroll and an increase to the countys overall per capita income because the jobs being created bring with them salaries over the countys current average per capita income.
And even with a 50 percent real property tax abatement on the $350,000 in new investments the company will make to upgrade the facility, there will be higher property taxes paid, Wiggam noted.
All of those are wonderful things, said Wiggam adding were really glad that you are expanding here.
