082911 Ill meet you on the hill.
Summary: Three weeks before the bell rang for the first day of classes, the Wooster High School Marching Band was already on the field perfecting what promises to be one of the most entertaining half time shows in recent memory.
"I'll meet you on the hill," is a common phrase to hear during Wooster High Schools annual three week marching band camp.
The bands practice field, which is located at the base of the small hill behind the high school that overlooks Follis Field, is a popular place for band alumni, parents, neighbors and even the occasional curious passer-by to spread out a blanket and enjoy watching the band perfect its pre-game, half time and post game shows.
According to Wooster High School band director Dan Adams the 2011 edition of the Wooster High School Marching Band will debut with a nautical themed show entitled On the High Seas which features music from the movie blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean and theme songs from the hit TV shows Sponge Bob Square Pants, The Love Boat and Hawaii Five-O.
In addition to performing during the Generals 2011 season opener against Canfield on August 26 and home games on September 9 against Ellet, October 14 against Mansfield Senior and October 21 against West Holmes, the band will present the incomparable Script Woo during the Homecoming game on September 23 against Madison.
This year the band will also travel to away games in Ashland on September 16, Clear Fork on September 30, Lexington on October 7 and arch rival Orrville on October 29.
The band rounds out its 2011 performance schedule with appearances at the Wayne County Fair on September 12 and at the Massillon Tiger Band Review on September 17 before presenting its annual indoor Marching Band Concert on October 25.
The band wont be hanging up their uniforms for long after football season is over.
After a few months off the band will begin preparations for performances at Disney World in Florida over spring break.
