SUMMARY: May be those of Susan Ryan, missing since June 2010 Wooster Police believe they have recovered the remains of a woman missing since June 2010. WPD Chief Matt Fisher said human remains found off Kemrow Street are believed to be those of Susan Ryan, who was 58 when she went missing from her Wooster home last year. Fisher said a handgun and “photo identification” belonging to Ryan were discovered with the remains. The remains were located in dense brush south of the Wayne County Fairgrounds near Kemrow and were reported to police at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. The Wayne County Coroner’s office took possession of the remains and identification through dental records is underway, Fisher said. Ryan’s family last had contact with her June 4, when she spoke to her mother. Missing from Ryan’s residence were a handgun, a map and her driver’s license. She took nothing else and left behind her dog and a ring that family said she was never without. Searches were carried out in several Wooster parks that Ryan was known to frequent. Wooster Police followed up numerous sightings, including one in Elyria, where Ryan lived previously. A cause of death has not been determined, as of Monday. Foul play is not suspected, Fisher said. The discovery of the human remains is the second in Wayne County this year. Unidentified remains were also found near Rittman in a wooded area in September, and investigation into that matter continues.
