SUMMARY: ID required when voting at polls Voters can go to the polls for early voting through the Nov. 3 weekend right up to the day before election day. The Wayne County Board of Elections will follow the hours set by the Ohio Secretary of State that allows voting on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting ends Monday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Polls will open at 6:30 a.m. on election day, Nov. 6, and close at 7:30 p.m. Early voting has been steady at the board of elections since it began Oct. 2, Wayne County Board of Elections Deputy Director Connie Clark said. The BOE has added several part-time workers to the staff to assist with early voting. Clark said persons who wish to vote early may bring in identification but are not required to do so. The board of elections has the signature and general information of all registered voters, Clark said, and can match information from the file or by signature. When voting Nov. 6, however, ID will be required as poll workers do not have access to the BOE’s database. Clark said a driver’s license is helpful to the BOE when someone comes in to vote, but is more important for updating information. “It’s really a great way to get their files cleared out,” Clark said. “As much information we have current, it’s better to compare with state records.” Voting hours vary from day to day. For a complete list of hours, visit the BOE’s website, votewayne.org, or call 330-287-5480. Going to the polls Nov. 6, voters must present the following as ID: A current and valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID card, or government ID Military ID that shows the voter’s name A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government paycheck, or other government document that shows the voter’s name and current address The following poll locations are new this year: Orrville 3-B, Heartland Point, 200 N.
