SUMMARY: Codefendants face up to 24 months in prison Codefendants in a series of burglaries are facing up to 24 months in prison after pleading to breaking and entering charges Tuesday Oct. 25 in Holmes County Common Pleas Court. Michael B. Daugherty, 27, 505 W. Larwill St., Wooster, Rodney R. Roper, 35, 505 W. Larwill St., Wooster, and Steven R. Roper, 28, 1855 Mechanicsburg Road, Lot L3, Wooster, each pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking and entering, fifth-degree felonies that carry up to 12 months in prison. The charges stem from June 18, when the three men hit three Holmes County businesses in a row. According to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Chris Oehl, Daugherty, Rodney Roper and Steven Roper broke into a utility truck at a Millersburg business and took wiring and electrical equipment before proceeding to a trucking company and stealing two radiators. They took utility wire from a third business before being apprehended by police. Steven Roper fled on foot from officers and was later arrested after he returned to Wooster. All of the stolen items were recovered. A lock was reported damaged in the third burglary but no restitution figure was available Oct. 25, Oehl said. The three men drove to Holmes County in the same vehicle and it is not known how Steven Roper made it back to Wooster, Oehl said. Common Pleas Judge Robert D. Rinfret ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for Jan. 4.
