The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wooster Post is investigating an Oct. 24 crash that claimed the life of a Wooster woman. Veronica J. Cook, 53, 545 Stibbs Street, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle head on collision that occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. on U.S. 250 near Mt. Eaton. According to Wooster Post reports, Cook was traveling westbound on U.S. 250 in a 1989 Chevrolet when Anthony Alex Difazio, 19, Gardiner, New York, driving a 2002 Subaru, went left of center in the eastbound lane. Difazio struck Cook head-on, causing Cook’s vehicle to rotate and strike a guardrail before coming to rest on the north side of the roadway. Difazio was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and Cook was not, according to patrol reports. Difazio was transported to Aultman Hospital, where he was treated and released. The crash is the thirteenth fatal motor vehicle accident in Wayne County this year.
