SUMMARY: Suspect is male 13-year-old seventh grade student The Holmes County Prosecuting Attorney’s office is reviewing charges against a West Holmes Middle School student who allegedly made a bomb threat Friday Nov. 1 at school. Prosecuting Attorney Steve Knowling said Tuesday Nov. 5 that a decision to bring charges against a 13-year-old boy should be made some time this week. The boy was identified as a suspect in a Nov. 1 bomb threat at West Holmes Middle School, where he is a student in the seventh grade. The student’s placement at the school is under review, according to school officials. According to Holmes County Sheriff’s reports, a threat was found Nov. 1 in a boy’s restroom at the middle school. The school was evacuated by school officials prior to deputies’ arrival at the school at approximately 11.22 a.m., according to sheriff’s reports. The threat was left in pencil and was not specific “to time/day of detonation or device location”, according to a press release by sheriff’s chief deputy Richard Haun. The suspect was identified using surveillance cameras in the school. Deputies were able to identify the suspect by viewing students who entered the restroom prior to the threat being discovered. Numerous interviews were made before the suspect was identified, according to sheriff’s reports. The school was swept using bomb sniffing dogs from the Summit County Sheriff’s office. No explosive devices were identified. The middle school students were evacuated to the high school gym, where they spent the remainder of the day.
