11/18/13 Sophomore is suspect in Nov. 11 bomb threat

                        
SUMMARY: Threat left in marker in boy's restroom A West Holmes High School sophomore has been identified as a suspect in a Monday Nov. 11 bomb threat. The Holmes County Sheriff’s office reports that a 15-year-old male student is allegedly the individual who left a bomb threat in a restroom at West Holmes High School. According to sheriff’s reports, the bomb threat was reported at approximately 8:33 a.m. The high school faculty and students were evacuated to the middle school prior to deputies’ arrival. The high school was searched using trained dogs from the Columbus Division of Fire and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. No explosive devices were found. The threat was written in marker in the boy’s restroom. No time or day of detonation was specified in the threat, according to sheriff’s reports. Students were returned to the high school once the building was deemed clear. The suspect was identified using surveillance cameras. Deputies and staff narrowed the search by watching video of persons entering the restroom prior to the threat being discovered. Charges will be forwarded to the Holmes County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for review. Deputies will be on hand at the high school Tuesday as a safety precaution. The threat is the second at West Holmes Schools in two weeks. A bomb threat was also found at West Holmes Middle School Nov. 1. A 13-year-old male student has been identified as a suspect in the middle school case. The Nov. 1 threat was also discovered in a boy’s bathroom. Investigation into Monday’s bomb threat is ongoing, according to sheriff’s reports.
