SUMMARY: Stole painkillers after calling in phony prescription A Wooster woman is facing up to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty to stealing a prescription from a Millersburg pharmacy. Emily E. Estrada, 29, 4825 Angling Road Extension, pleaded Tuesday Nov. 29 in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to one count of theft of drugs. The charge stems from Aug. 9, when Estrada phoned in a prescription for Vicodin at the Millersburg Walmart pharmacy. According to Millersburg Police Detective Sgt. Roger Estill, Estrada had illegally obtained a legitimate code from a doctor’s office that allowed her to call in prescriptions over the phone. Estrada called in the prescription under a false name, then picked up the prescription. She walked out the door without paying for it. WalMart originally contacted Millersburg police to report the incident as a theft. Estill contacted the doctor’s office Estrada claimed to represent and discovered the name the prescription was ordered under was not the name of a client of the doctor’s office. At the time, Estrada was under investigation by Medway Drug Enforcement Agency for similar crimes in Wayne County, Estill said. She has since been charged and pleaded guilty in Wayne County Common Pleas Court to four counts each of deception to obtain dangerous drugs, identity fraud and illegal processing of drug documents. Estrada said she learned how to phone in prescriptions while previously employed as a pharmacy tech for WalMart. At the time of the offenses, Estrada was not employed by WalMart. Estrada said she became addicted to Vicodin over a number of years, first to treat physical pain from numerous health issues and then emotional pain. “I just got hooked on the pills that way,” Estrada said. “I didn’t deal with things the right way. It just got out of control.” After learning she could not have children, and, later, that her husband was seeking a divorce, Estrada said “the drugs for me just numbed that (pain) for me”. Common Pleas Judge Robert D. Rinfret scheduled sentencing for Jan. 18 and ordered a presentence investigation. Also Tuesday: Glenda M. Pinnicks, 57, 753 North Geyer Chapel Rd., Wooster was sentenced to two years in prison on one count of trafficking in hydromorphone within the vicinity of a school. The charge stems from May 7 to May 26, when the Holmes County narcotics unit made four controlled buys of hydromorphone from Pinnicks. In exchange for her guilty plea, three trafficking charges were dropped against Pinnicks. Rinfret further ordered Pinnicks pay back the $600 used by the sheriff’s office to facilitate the four buys and forfeiture of Pinnicks’ 1995 Honda.
