Summary: Santa set up a workshop right here to Wooster on Dec. 10 when MosaicConnection hosted its third annual Santa’s Workshop event at the 120 Beall Avenue Building. Children in first through sixth grades were transformed into Santa’s elves on Dec. 10 when MosaicConnection presented its third annual Santa’s Workshop at the 120 Beall Avenue Building. During this free event youngsters had the opportunity to create their own hand crafted Christmas gifts for their parents and siblings. The budding young artists selected one of three different projects including a metal tooled wall hanging, a slate Christmas ornament and a beaded snowman bracelet. As the older children worked away at their creations, younger siblings had the opportunity to make candy canes out of pipe cleaners and beads, work on Christmas coloring pages, visit with Jolly Old St. Nick and munch on cookies and punch. Live music for the event was also provided by a group of musicians lead by Dan Bartkowiak. Participants in Santa’s Workshop also took the opportunity to do a bit of Christmas shopping by browsing through the hundreds of handcrafted items for sale by the talented members of the 120 Artists CoOp, which is also housed in the 120 Beall Avenue Building. Santa’s Workshop is part of a series of art experiences offered by the MosaicConnection art outreach. The next event on the non-for-profit organization’s busy schedule of events is Kid’s Connection. According to MosaicConnection’s Melody Kirby, Kid’s Connection, which is open to children in second through sixth grades, provides children with the opportunity to experience many types of arts, including fine arts, crafts, storytelling, drama and music. Each session includes a simple dinner followed by entertainment and arts and crafts projects. The Kid’s Connection program, which will resume in January after taking a break for the holidays, is free of charge but registration is required. Registration for the program is available on MosaicConnection’s web site. For more information on MosaicConnection the organization’s web site at www.MosaicConnection.org.
