Armed with a search warrant, Holmes County Sheriff’s deputies raided a Benton residence Wednesday night. Sheriff Tim Zimmery said the residence, located off state Route 241 in Benton, was the site of a suspected drug manufacturing operation. Evidence and cash was removed from the residence and charges are pending against at least one suspect, Zimmerly said. “The residence was searched and now (deputies) are reviewing the evidence,” Zimmerly said. “We’ll be preparing charges for the prosecutor from there.” Zimmerly said the residence was searched after an investigation led deputies to believe a possible methamphetamine lab was inside. The Holmes County Special Response Team (SRT) executed the search warrant, entering through a front door, Zimmerly said. They were assisted by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s SRT. No one was home when the warrant was served and no injuries were reported. The house is a two story structure divided into apartments, Zimmerly said, with the suspected drug activity taking place in the second floor apartment.
