Summary: Hiland Naturals to feature a different approach to farming during the Holmes Farm Tour. Stop number seven, Hiland Naturals, is located at 12839 County Road 6 in Killbuck and is going to be one of the most unique stops of the tour. Hiland Naturals is an all organic business that doesn’t use unnatural growth hormones or harmful antibiotics in feeds they use and sell. They believe in using nature to raise high quality livestock. “We chose Hiland Naturals because they are an organic feed producer, and everything within the business is organic. They have everything from free range animals, organic eggs, and even organic meets. Right now there is a huge push for organic and it’s definitely something different for this area,” said member of the Holmes County Farm Bureau Lauren Croskey. While the Farm tour visits the Hiland Naturals Farm and business they will get to see everything in action and what Hiland Naturals is all about. While the visitors arrive they will get to see goats, pigs, cattle, chickens and much more. “They have free range hogs, chicken, and beef that visitors will get to see and they will also have to opportunity to buy organic products. It’s a very large and unique business and it’s a great stop for someone who wants to farm organically or for people who are interested in that type of thing,” said Croskey. The Hiland Naturals Crew will have a set up just outside their office with free samples of their Hliand meats. These meats will showcase sustainability and non-gmo centered production techniques for the visitors to see and taste. “We just want to show people that there are other ways to raise live stock in big quantities. Everything we do here is all natural. We are a feed company and a farm and we have the advantage to show those who come here how we use our feeds on our animals, that way people can see how to do it and how we do it. It’s a good opportunity to have people see our product in the works,” said Daniel Masters, owner of Hiland Naturals. While the Farm Tour visits Hiland Naturals tours will be offered to see the farm and the techniques that the owners use to keep everything natural. They will get to see everything from hundreds of chickens, to grazing cattle, and even mud slopping pigs. The Hiland Naturals store will also be open for visitors to stock up on meats, feeds, natural soaps, and much more. Inside the Farm Tour visitors will see everything that Hiland Naturals has to offer. Informational pamphlets and other sorts will also be handed out to provide additional education of organic farming. “We really just want people to know what we do and we want them to ask us questions about organic and natural farming,” said Masters. Hiland Naturals will be the final stopping place for the folks on the Farm Tour.
