2014 Wayne County Fair Schedule: MONDAY, 9/8

                        
Wayne County School Day. All the Wayne County schools give their students the day off just so they can come out to the Wayne County Fair. Every school-age child and teenager will get a free gate admission ticket to enjoy the day at the fair. Plus, the amusement rides open early for everyone. It's a great day of fun, food, games and community. 8:00 a.m. Jr. Market Lamb & Showmanship Show, Show Arena 9:00 Jr. Fair Horse Show, Riding Arena 9:00 Jr. Fair Poultry Show, Carter Buidling 9:00 Pony & Draft Horse Halter Show, Coliseum Halter classes for pony and draft horses compete for showmanship and mini showmanship for the younger riders. The show tests the rider's showmanship and how they handle the horses. Each horse and rider is judged individually. It's a good place for the riders to show off all of their hard work and practice from the past year. And, it's a great time to watch riders and horses at their best. 9:00 High School Bands, Grandstand Come out and support the hard work and efforts of ten high school marching bands and their dedicated directors during this long held tradition and favorite community display of talent. Each band gets their 15 minutes of fame starting at 9 a.m. The bands in order of performance include: Norwayne, Smithville, Waynedale, Chippewa, Orrville, Rittman, Dalton, Northwestern, Triway and finally Wooster, closing the spirited performance at 11:30 a.m. 11:00 Jr. Swine Showmanship, Show Arena (Or immediately following the Lamb Show) Members of 4-H, ages 8 to 18, show off their full-grown market hogs. With hundreds of entries, there's a lot of variety with hogs weighing from 210 to 280 pounds. Hogs get judged on confirmation and their handlers get judged on showmanship. Market animals from this show get auctioned on Thursday. Noon Local Tractor Pull, Grandstand A noisy crowd favorite! The competition is for Wayne County residents only. Tractors and 4x4 stock trucks pull a weight transfer sled. Each weight on the sled is 1,000 pounds and some of these monster tractors and trucks can pull up to 10,000 pounds. Prize money, trophies and ribbons are awarded to pullers who move the farthest. 6:00 p.m. Mini Dairy Showmanship, Coliseum 7:30 Brown Swiss & Guernsey Show, Coliseum Come watch handlers show off the best of their best in the Brown Swiss and Guernsey cows. This competition is open to all ages and contestants can come from anywhere in the state. Cash awards are given to the top contenders. 8:00 p.m. Scotty McCreery, Grandstand Come hear one of country’s hottest new stars with original songs reflecting his love of faith, family and hometown of Garner, N.C. As Scotty performs coast to coast his bass voice fills the air with toe-tapping songs filled with all-American values.
