SUMMARY: Says he hasn't gotten child support as well A Lisbon man charged with non-support of dependents said he can relate to other parents who are not receiving their court-ordered child support. Christopher J. Irwin, 31, 579 E. Washington St., pleaded guilty to one count of non-support of dependents Thursday July 14 in Holmes County Common Pleas Court. He faces up to 18 months in prison on the charge. The charge states Irwin failed to make monthly child support payments of $285 for his minor child from Nov. 1 2009 to June 30, 2010. However, Holmes County Child Support Enforcement Agency records indicate Irwin has only made $132 in payments in the five years since the original court order. Irwin was previously convicted of non-support of dependents in 2008 in the same CSEA case. At the time, Irwin did not cooperate with the CSEA, missing appointments, according to court records. Irwin said, as a father with custody of his son, he understands the difficulties people face when child support payments do not come in. “I have full custody of my 12-year-old. I know what its like not to get child support,” Irwin said. Common Pleas Judge Robert D. Rinfret ordered a presentence investigation and told Irwin to get a job. “I’m going to give you an opportunity to get a job,” Rinfret said. “You’re not paying for this kid. I’m sure, in five years, someone has.”
